In Munich, 6,000 Trixi mirrors could soon be installed at over 1,100 intersections. Truck accidents at the intersections are said to be reduced. Spiegel invented Ulrich Willburger. His daughter was the victim of a turning accident.

It’s been 25 years since Ulrich Willburger from Seehausen invented the Trixi mirror. Trixi, named after his daughter Beatrix, who had recently had a serious accident. The 13-year-old was on her bike when she was hit and overrun by a concrete mixer turning right.

She survived seriously injured, but has been paralyzed on one side since then. A typical blind spot accident, it was said at the time by an official body, explains Willburger: “Both the experts and the police explained to us: This is repeated stereotypically, there is nothing you can do about it. I didn’t want to leave it like that. ”
