COMPANY AND DRIVER OF THE YEAR
Prompted by one of it’s member countries, the UICR awards the title „Passenger and Freight Transport Operations of the Year.” The innovative transportation company is honoured by this title when found providing exceptional services within roadtransport sector by promoting safety, protecting the environment and providing good working conditions.
Almost 80% of all transport companies in Europe are family owned and operated businesses. They are characterized by their resonsible and sustainable management and are equally valued by their surroundings. Every two years this award is given to one transport company by the UICR that has shown exceptional leadership qualities in all of these areas. Once more, the goal is to promote responsible actions and value-based management.
A nine member jury responsible for choosing this worthy enterprise has been established by the UCIR, with representatives from varied backgrounds; including economics, politics and vocational training institutes. The jury will rely on it’s broad experience to select the most deserving candidate.

UICR Company of the year 2014 award
Upon request of the Dutch driver organization Beroeps Chauffeurs Nederland B.C.N., UICR awards on June 14, 2014 in Leeuwarden the award Company of the Year 2014 to the foundation “ScanTriHal”. ScanTriHal has been active since 1989 in educating children about dangers with trucks and busses on the road. Their own trucks and well equipped trailers serve as class rooms. Every day of the week 1 to 2 Trucks are on the road all over the Netherlands. To this day the foundation has educated more than 40’000 children. They use videos, which they have produced themselves as well as a 1:1 demonstration of the dead spot. All instructors work voluntarily.
For the celebration of this event, the driver organization Chauffeurs Vereinigung Friesland CVF organized a convoy of about 70 Trucks. In each truck, a child with a handicap was able to enjoy a trip through the city of Leeuwarden. Most of the children expressed their joy with an unbelievable smile, some protected their ears because of the noise of the airhorns. For all of them it will remain an unforgettable day.

Award „company of the year 2012 goes to MAN Austria
On November 16, 2012 a delegation from UICR and APDA visited MAN inLeopoldsdorf, close to Viena.
The delegation was welcomed by the MAN Management with a presentation of the
company. After the presentation the delegation was able to visit the Center with the different area managers. Each business unit of MAN was explained and visited. Followed by the key point of the day, the award “company of the year” by UICR and APDA as UICR’s country representative.
MAN Austria with their service center in Leopoldsdorf has impressed the jury of UICR and APDA. The company is managed on a very high level of competence by CEO Di Roberto Kerschl. The service center is managed by Andreas Zanat who understands to motivate his team. The service center offers a broad selection of services for drivers, is customer oriented, offers education classes for drivers and trainees and assures technical advancement. These criteria were crucial for the award company of the year.

2008: Sieber Gruppe, Berneck/Schweiz
Sieber group was granted by the UICR with the title “transportation company of the year 2008”. The Sieber Group is a global logistics company which was founded 35 years ago and is still owned by the brothers Paul and Erich Sieber. The group includes companies such as Sieber Transport AG, Francey Transport SA and Haldemann & Co. AG. The group employs 340 people at 14 locations in Switzerland, Austria and the United States. Ludwig A. Buechel, president of the UICR, praised the Sieber group as exemplary company, in which the employees are at the center. An active information policy, clearly formulated personnel regulations, a family and personal style of leadership and the clear commitment to promote training of staff characterize the corporate culture of the family business.
2003: Autobusni Promet, Varazdin/Kroation
he award for the year 2003 goes to the bus company ‘autobusni promet d.d. in Varazdin, Croatia. The company is 56 years old and mastered the entry into free enterprise as an employee owned company. Autobusni promet employs 220 professional drivers. UICR President Ludwig Büchel gave the director of the company, Ivan Biskup, the award for the ‘Transport Company of the Year.’ The company’s leadership qualities, the social consciousness of the management, the constant improvements in the area of safety and ergonomics as well as sizeable investments in environmental regulations made them an automatic first choice. Büchel made it clear in his speech that the name ‘autobusni promet d.d’ is the guarantee for a modern company with a future-oriented variety of services, a vast assortment of products, consciousness of quality, high level of performance, responsibility awareness but also high expectations from it’s employees.
2000: Arthur Welter, Luxembourg
The member association of professional drivers of Letzeburg (BLL) has given the best
references to the transport company Arthur Welter (Leudelange-Luxembourg) which
won the ‘Transport Company of the Year’ award for 2000.
1992: Setz AG, Dintikon/Schweiz
In 1992 this title was awarded to a Swiss company which is known well over the borders of Switzerland. On Friday, October 8th, Hanspeter Setz accepted the award from the hands of the Secretary General, Alber Michel. The company’s leadership qualities, the social consciousness of the management, the constant improvements in the area of safety and ergonomics as well as sizeable investments in environmental regulations made them an automatic first choice. In his oration Chairman Michel said, “The name Setz is the guarantee for a modern company with a future-oriented variety of services, a vast assortment of products, consciousness of quality, high level of performance, responsibility awareness but also high expectations from it’s employees.
