CHIP CRISIS AND EXPENSIVE STEEL: DAIMLER TRUCK WANTS TO INCREASE PRICES

Because of the chip crisis and increased material costs, the commercial vehicle manufacturer, Daimler Truck wants to turn the price screw for new orders. “Of course we will also increase prices next year,” said CEO Martin Daum at an online conference.

Purchase prices for steel and aluminium have risen sharply. According to its own statements, Daimler Truck is the world market leader in commercial vehicles.

Daum made it clear that trucks that have already been ordered should not become more expensive. “We make pre-ordered vehicles,” he said. “That’s one thing that truck manufacturers have to bear.” Because of the supply crisis for microchips, which affects the entire industry, demand at Daimler Truck exceeds deliveries to customers.
